Brighton City Festival!

Brighton is full of vibrance and character making it an ideal host to the many different popular musical events that take place. There are known to be 200 venues that programme live music festivals within Brighton, with Brighton City Festival being a great example. It is one of the popular music events hosted in Brighton every year, and this year I went along to it.It took place from the 25th-26th of October and attracted many people to the city selling 6000 tickets in total.I had an amazing time there and there was a great mixture of different DJs with some of the line up including Baby shambles, Bloc party, 2 Many Djs,The streets,The maccabees and Soulwax. The line up were all well known and established DJs, some of whom originally started out in Brighton.Brighton is a great city for young creative people, who are interested in, and have a passion for music, with there being many venues for musicians to play to a diverse range of audiences.

Creative Brighton

I moved to Brighton in mid September and think that it is a great place to live in. It is full of much energy, style and gravitas. With Brighton very much so being a creative hub it is also a very inspiring city to live in. The rise of the creative industries, particularly within the last ten years in Brighton has played a big part in helping the local economy in terms of growth, employment and turnover.Brighton offers a friendly laid back and tolerant environment to to its diverse mixture of creative sectors making it an ideal host.

According to the DCMS(Department of culture, media and sport, the Creative Industries can be defined as all of the following-
  • Advertising
  • Architecture
  • Art and Antiques
  • Crafts
  • Design
  • Fashion
  • Film
  • Interactive Leisure Software
  • Music
  • Performing Arts
  • Publishing
  • Software Design
  • Tv and Radio
  • Visual Arts

I am going to be exploring creativity and the creative industries further within my blog, whilst understanding why they are so relevant to the City of Brighton.
